Berkeley Law lecturer Hermine Wong argued that crypto industry groups cannot assume they speak for the broader crypto community based on political spending, as Ohio voters prepare to cast ballots Tuesday, Nov. 3.

“They still need the community’s votes,” Wong wrote. Her argument is that spending by crypto-backed political committees does not establish whether crypto users support the candidates those committees favor.

Fairshake and Digital Freedom Fund are independent expenditure-only super PACs. Independent expenditures are communications supporting or opposing a clearly identified candidate that are not coordinated with a candidate or party and are not paid directly to the candidate.

Ohio polls are scheduled to open at 6:30 a.m. ET and close at 7:30 p.m. ET Tuesday.
