> Wedbush set a $5 target for NuScale and cited its order book and project history. Oklo, X-Energy and NANO Nuclear received Outperform ratings.

Wedbush began coverage of four nuclear developers Tuesday, assigning NuScale Power an Underperform rating and a $5 price target while giving Outperform ratings to Oklo, X-Energy and NANO Nuclear.

Wedbush’s concerns about NuScale centered on the absence of a binding, financed module order during the company’s 19-year history and its reliance on ENTRA1 to execute its order book. The firm also pointed to the cancellation of NuScale’s only project to reach customer economics after its target power price rose to $89 per megawatt-hour from $58 per megawatt-hour.

For Oklo, Wedbush highlighted a privately funded, privately sited reactor that went from groundbreaking to criticality in less than 11 months. It also cited Oklo’s work in power, fuel recycling and isotopes, contrasting that portfolio with peer developers it described as still in regulatory review and without operating assets.

Wedbush said X-Energy’s Xe-100 was nearing a construction permit from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The firm described X-Energy’s fuel facility as the first new NRC-licensed commercial fuel fabrication facility in more than 50 years.

For NANO Nuclear, Wedbush pointed to KRONOS as one of the few Generation IV designs at the NRC construction-permit application stage. The company is also pursuing vertical integration, another factor in Wedbush’s assessment.
