# Crypto Liquidations Reach $238 Million in One Hour as Longs Dominate

Crypto-market liquidations reached $238 million over the past hour on Sept. 23, with long positions accounting for the overwhelming majority of forced closures.

Long-position liquidations totaled $230 million during the period. Short-position liquidations reached $6.83 million.

The figures show a heavily one-sided liquidation breakdown, with long positions representing nearly all of the reported total. The combined long and short figures amount to $236.83 million, reflecting rounding in the overall $238 million tally.

Liquidations occur when leveraged positions are closed after traders fail to meet required margin levels. The latest tally highlights the scale of derivatives-market activity over a single hour.
