# Brent Crude Reaches $102.30 Intraday Before Closing at $99.60

Brent crude briefly moved above $102 per barrel on Sept. 22 before ending the session at $99.60, with prices fluctuating across a range of nearly $5 during the trading day.

The global oil benchmark stood at $99.27 per barrel at 6 a.m. ET (10:00 UTC). It later traded as high as $102.30 and as low as $97.43 before closing at $99.60.

Brent was quoted at $100.19 per barrel at 12:50 p.m. ET (16:50 UTC), placing the midday price above the session close. The benchmark had been listed at $95.16 one month earlier and $66.68 one year earlier.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) listed a weekly Brent average of $111.83 for the week ending Sept. 11.

Brent is the principal global oil benchmark. West Texas Intermediate is the main U.S. oil benchmark. Intraday quotes can differ from an official daily settlement or closing price.
