> Bitcoin moved above its approximate May high during the week of Sept. 21, but the breakout remained unconfirmed before the weekly candle closed.

Bitcoin (BTC) was testing the area near $83,000 on Sept. 25 after moving above its approximate May high during the week of Sept. 21, challenging an earlier bearish outlook for the fourth quarter of 2026.

The breakout remained unconfirmed before the weekly candle closed. A weekly close above the approximate May high would strengthen the bullish interpretation, while a return below the level would suggest that the move had failed and could send Bitcoin back into its prior trading range.

Benjamin Cowen’s earlier view called for further weakness into the fourth quarter, based on Bitcoin’s historical midterm-year weakness and recurring four-year market cycles. The move above the May high has challenged that expectation, although it does not by itself confirm a broader change in the market cycle.

Cowen previously placed Bitcoin in “bottom-watch” mode after a decline near $57,000 and a rebound to roughly $65,300. His latest market view focused on the weekly close as the key test for whether the move above the May high should be treated as a durable breakout.

Bitcoin traded around $83,850 on Sept. 24.

The next weekly close is the immediate event for traders evaluating whether Bitcoin can hold above the level. Until then, the move represents a challenge to the earlier fourth-quarter weakness thesis rather than a confirmed breakout.
