# Bitcoin Holds Above $84,000 on Sept. 28 as Liquidations Hit $187M

> Bitcoin traded narrowly while Ether weakened, and the Fear and Greed Index rose to 74 as crypto trading remained cautious.

Bitcoin (BTC) held above $84,000 in the Sept. 28 market reading as crypto liquidations reached $187 million over 24 hours and crypto trading remained cautious.

Bitcoin traded between $84,055 and $85,159 before settling at $84,092, down 0.25%. Ether (ETH) fell 0.75% to $2,674, underperforming Bitcoin. The move followed recent Bitcoin liquidation activity as traders monitored a narrow range near $84,000.

Long positions accounted for $89.91 million of liquidations, while short positions represented $97.05 million. A total of 81,945 traders were liquidated. The largest single liquidation was a $3.34 million XRP-USD contract on Hyperliquid.

The Fear and Greed Index rose to 74 from 70 a day earlier, remaining in the “greed” range. The index moved between 70 and 78 over the past eight days and reached 78 on Sept. 22.

Other major assets posted mixed results. Solana (SOL) gained 0.62% to $121.63, while XRP fell 0.23% to $1.5145. Solana’s 14-day high was $124.42 on Sept. 27, and XRP’s was $1.639 on Sept. 23.

U.S. stocks also rebounded Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.93% to close at 51,828, the S&P 500 gained 0.51% to 7,743 and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.48% to 27,068. Crypto markets showed limited reactions as trading remained cautious.

Bitcoin’s 14-day relative strength index stood at 65.1, based on its Sept. 27 close of $84,472. Bitcoin remained above its 20-day, 50-day and 200-day simple moving averages at $80,454, $76,129 and $71,109, respectively.

Ether’s 14-day relative strength index was 63.0, based on a $2,689 close. Ether also remained above its 20-day, 50-day and 200-day moving averages at $2,578, $2,389 and $2,102.

Bitcoin’s resistance levels were $87,396 and $87,787, with support at $80,454, $76,129 and $74,968. Ether’s resistance levels were $2,807 and $2,813, with support at $2,578, $2,389 and $2,356.
