> Long positions accounted for $408 million of liquidations, while market sentiment eased but remained in the greed range.

Bitcoin (BTC) held above $83,000 in the Sept. 29 market reading as $511 million in crypto positions were liquidated over 24 hours, adding pressure to a market that remained in greed territory despite weaker prices.

BTC traded between $82,563 and $84,381 during the period, with its decline narrowing to 1.14%. Ether (ETH) rose 0.11% to $2,676.

Solana (SOL) fell 2.95% to $118.07, while XRP declined 1.71% to $1.488. The mixed performance left Bitcoin and Ether relatively more resilient than several other major assets.

Long positions accounted for $408 million of the $511 million in liquidations, compared with $103 million from short positions. A total of 128,000 traders were forcibly liquidated, and the largest single liquidation was an $11.82 million ETH/USDT futures position on Binance.

Market sentiment also cooled. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index fell to 73 from 74, moving out of the extreme-greed range while remaining in greed. The index has stayed between 70 and 78 for the past eight days.

U.S. stocks also closed lower Monday. The S&P 500 fell 0.77% to 7,683.69, the Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.92% to 26,820.38 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.67% to 51,481.51. The VIX rose to 16.07 from 14.87.
