> Separate talks focused on a ceasefire as Middle Eastern crude exports recovered to nearly 80% of prewar levels.

Iranian and U.S. officials held separate talks with mediators Monday as ceasefire efforts resumed and Middle Eastern crude exports recovered to nearly 80% of prewar levels.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met Qatari mediators in New York and said Tehran expected a response from Washington by Tuesday. Iran’s proposal calls for the release of frozen funds, an end to sanctions on Iranian oil and the lifting of a naval blockade, followed by nuclear talks within seven days.

President Donald Trump said U.S. officials had also spoken separately with mediators. He called Iran’s proposal unacceptable Sunday and said Monday, “We’re going to win. It’s going to go pretty quickly.”

Oil flows remain below prewar levels through the Strait of Hormuz. Clearance reached 10,591 kilobarrels per day Saturday, compared with a prewar baseline of 17,133.

Retail diesel prices were near a record $6.53 per gallon. The administration is weighing an export ban that could keep about 1.2 million barrels per day in the United States and strain Gulf Coast storage.
