> Rising realized profits point to heavier selling, while low exchange inflows suggest holders are not broadly depositing Bitcoin to sell.

Bitcoin (BTC) faces rising correction risk as realized-profit activity reaches multi-month highs and the Coinbase Premium Index remains negative for much of 2026, pointing to weaker relative U.S. spot demand.

The Coinbase Premium Index compares Bitcoin prices on Coinbase with prices on global exchanges. A negative reading means Bitcoin is trading at a discount on Coinbase and is used to assess demand from U.S. spot-market participants. The index was negative for much of 2026, although it was flat or briefly positive during some periods.

Realized profits measure gains taken when Bitcoin moves at prices above its previous on-chain cost basis. Higher realized profits can indicate that profitable holders are selling, but the metric alone does not confirm the start of a bear market.

Exchange inflows have remained relatively low, suggesting holders are not broadly depositing Bitcoin onto exchanges. That creates a mixed market setup: profit-taking and weaker relative U.S. demand may pressure prices, while limited exchange deposits suggest selling has not become widespread.

Three indicators are central to judging whether any correction remains shallow: the Coinbase Premium Index, exchange inflows and the pace of realized profits. Together, they show increased profit-taking without clear evidence that holders are rushing to sell.

The latest conditions follow [earlier signs of heavier Bitcoin profit-taking as unrealized gains reached 33%](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/investing/24388>). Unrealized profit margins rose from 17.7% in early May to 33% by September, while profit-taking also increased.

The current market therefore combines higher gains being realized with more limited movement of Bitcoin onto exchanges. No specific correction target, timing or probability has been established.
