# Dormant Bitcoin Transfers Slow in September but Stay Above July

Bitcoin (BTC) that had remained in inactive wallets for years moved more slowly in September than in August, while the month’s activity exceeded July’s level.

About 5,400 BTC moved in September.

August’s reported total was 6,427.59 BTC. September’s movement exceeded July’s.

Wallets created in 2016 formed the largest reported cohort, with 1,556.53 BTC moved across 13 transactions. Wallets created in 2013 accounted for 888.91 BTC across 26 transfers.

About 57 transfers involved bitcoin that had been dormant for 12 to 16 years. The largest daily amount cited was 1,620.39 BTC on Sept. 6. Sept. 5 had the most transfers, at about 24.
