iExec’s RLC token rose sharply on Oct. 5 and 6 as open interest climbed to about $35.1 million, adding derivatives exposure to a rally whose size differed across market snapshots.

RLC traded between about $0.72 and $0.90 in snapshots taken Oct. 6. Reported 24-hour gains ranged from 98.1% to 135.5%, so the 128% figure depends on the snapshot and measurement window.

The token closed at $0.726935 on Oct. 5, after closing at $0.364073 on Oct. 4. Open interest increased roughly 1,760% over 24 hours.

Open interest measures the value of outstanding derivatives positions. It does not show whether traders are mostly positioned for higher or lower prices. If traders unwind the newly added positions, the rally could come under pressure.

No newly verified iExec announcement has been linked to the price jump. The project works on confidential computing and privacy-focused applications, and RLC has roles in its ecosystem. Those uses do not, by themselves, explain the sudden price increase.
