> Brent closed at $101.39 on Oct. 7 as attacks on airports and other Saudi facilities renewed concerns about energy supplies and inflation.

Brent crude closed above $100 a barrel on Oct. 7 after attacks damaged Saudi airports and other facilities, renewing energy-supply and inflation concerns for US markets and crypto.

The December 2026 ICE Brent contract settled at $101.39, after opening at $101.10 and reaching an intraday high of $101.78. A separate market quote showed Brent at $101.60, up $1.04, or 1.03%.

Saudi Arabia said attacks on airports in Najran and Jizan damaged both facilities and lightly injured three people. Its Foreign Ministry also identified reported targets in Riyadh, Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, Najran, Taif and Yanbu, along with Saudi vessels in the southern Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

The Houthis claimed additional attacks, including one involving Abha International Airport, but Saudi authorities did not confirm that claim. A Saudi-led coalition spokesperson said a ballistic missile aimed at Khamis Mushait was intercepted and destroyed.

The attacks came as Saudi Arabia and allied Yemeni forces conducted military operations near Yemen’s Red Sea coast and the Bab el-Mandeb, a major route for oil and global trade.
