> The nationwide crude draw reached about 3.97 million barrels when the Strategic Petroleum Reserve was included, while gasoline inventories increased.

West Texas Intermediate crude traded near $89.50 a barrel Wednesday, Oct. 7, as commercial U.S. crude stockpiles posted a weekly decline of 3.186 million barrels through Oct. 2.

The decline brought the nationwide crude draw to about 3.97 million barrels when a 784,000-barrel reduction in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve was included. The inventory figures were released at 10:30 a.m. ET (14:30 UTC) Wednesday.

Crude stocks at the Cushing, Oklahoma, storage hub moved in the opposite direction, increasing by 444,000 barrels to 24.7 million barrels.

Petroleum-product inventories were mixed. Gasoline stocks rose by about 382,000 barrels, while distillate inventories, which include diesel fuel, declined by 42,000 barrels.

Refinery crude inputs increased by 223,000 barrels per day. U.S. crude production rose by 24,000 barrels per day to approximately 14 million barrels per day, and distillate exports increased by 235,000 barrels per day to about 1.76 million barrels per day.

The October short-term energy outlook projects U.S. distillate inventories will remain below their 2021-25 average. It also projects retail distillate prices will remain above $6 per gallon during October.
