> The directive sets no attack date, but renewed operations could target Iran’s energy, infrastructure and nuclear facilities before the Nov. 3 U.S. midterm elections.

The Pentagon has instructed U.S. Central Command to prepare for renewed large-scale military operations against Iran, a move that raises geopolitical risk for oil, broader risk assets and crypto markets.

The directive was issued days ago and does not set a date for possible strikes. Trump has not made a final decision, while the Defense Department is preparing military options for the president.

Renewed operations could involve extensive bombing of Iranian energy, infrastructure and nuclear facilities. U.S. and Israeli forces could coordinate in such a campaign, with Israeli troops potentially participating.

The timing could become politically sensitive. The strikes may take place before the Nov. 3 U.S. midterm elections, and possibly before Israel’s election, which is scheduled roughly one week earlier.

Israeli officials have also warned that Iran’s increasingly desperate and suspicious posture could lead it to launch an attack first. For markets, any move from planning to military action would make developments around energy supplies and regional infrastructure more important to watch.
