> Positive funding and rising open interest pointed to stronger leveraged participation, but the data did not establish whether new positions were bullish or bearish.

Pons (PONS) rose more than 10% in the 24 hours ending around 10 p.m. ET Oct. 7 (2 a.m. UTC Oct. 8), even as perpetual and spot markets recorded negative net flows.

Perpetual-market net inflow was approximately negative $7.89 million during the period, meaning selling volume exceeded buying volume. Spot-market net inflow was negative $1.64 million, with $10.64 million in buying-side inflow.

Derivatives positioning also expanded. The funding rate was positive at 0.0032%, meaning traders holding long perpetual positions generally paid those holding short positions. Open interest rose about 6% to $175.09 million.

The combination could indicate stronger leveraged participation, but open interest does not show whether new positions were long or short. Negative net flows also do not establish whether traders were taking profits, reducing leverage or opening short positions.

Estimated liquidation levels were more concentrated above the market. If short positions are forcibly closed, those liquidations can create additional buying, although the levels represent potential closures rather than guaranteed orders and do not confirm that liquidations occurred.

Pons is a non-custodial token launchpad operating on Robinhood Chain. PONS closed at $0.3954 on Oct. 6 and reached a daily high of $0.4242 in separate daily price records, but those figures do not cover the same rolling 24-hour period as the reported gain.
