> Brent crude rose above $100 as multiple tanker incidents heightened concern about Gulf energy supplies and added macro pressure for crypto and broader markets.

Brent crude climbed above $100 a barrel Thursday as multiple tanker incidents in the Strait of Hormuz heightened concern about Gulf energy supplies and added a fresh macro risk for crypto and broader markets.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) office logged reports of tankers struck by unknown projectiles in the waterway on Sept. 28 and Sept. 30, followed by additional incidents from Oct. 3 through Oct. 5. The reports did not identify the attackers.

The Strait of Hormuz is a major route for energy exports from the Gulf. Disruptions there can affect global oil shipments and raise pressure across energy markets, including diesel.

The International Energy Agency said Oct. 7 that about 325 million barrels had been released under a collective emergency-stock action launched in March. Roughly 100 million barrels from the original pledge remained unreleased, leaving an additional supply buffer as maritime risks persist.
