# Crypto Market Cap Drops 4.44% to $2.83 Trillion as Bitcoin Slides

Bitcoin (BTC) fell 1.63% to $82,926 early Oct. 8 as the total crypto market lost 4.44% of its value, with declines across several major tokens.

BTC traded at 2:15 a.m. ET (06:15 UTC), while total crypto market capitalization stood at $2.83 trillion. Trading volume reached $105.03 billion during the 24-hour period covering the overnight and Asia sessions.

Ether (ETH) declined 1.81% to $2,572. XRP fell 4.49% to $1.41, Solana (SOL) dropped 2.70% to $115.39, and Dogecoin (DOGE) decreased 3.31% to $0.0876.

BNB was nearly unchanged at $769.74, rising 0.01%. Bitcoin represented 58.7% of the total crypto market, while Ether accounted for 11.1%.

NEAR Protocol (NEAR) was the strongest performer among the 38 largest assets, gaining 7.37%. Sky (SKY) was the weakest, falling 9.93%.

Crypto derivatives liquidations totaled $255.9 million across Binance, Bybit and OKX. Long positions accounted for $224.6 million, compared with $31.3 million in short-position liquidations.
