# Dogecoin Leads 24-Hour Open-Interest Declines as Crypto Positioning Shifts

Dogecoin led declines in perpetual-futures open interest among five major crypto assets in an Oct. 8 snapshot, while XRP recorded the most negative funding rate as traders adjusted their positions.

Dogecoin (DOGE) open interest fell 13.34% over 24 hours to $241.1 million. Its funding rate was positive at 0.0027% every eight hours, equivalent to 2.9% annualized. Accounts were 71.1% long and 28.9% short.

XRP had the lowest funding rate in the group at -0.0031% every eight hours, or -3.4% annualized. Open interest declined 5.54% to $444.3 million, while accounts were 71.8% long and 28.2% short.

Bitcoin (BTC) funding stood at 0.0003% every eight hours, equivalent to 0.3% annualized. Open interest fell 2.18% to $7.96 billion, with accounts 63.6% long and 36.4% short. Positive funding means traders with long positions pay those holding shorts.

Ether (ETH) had a funding rate of 0.0006% every eight hours, or 0.6% annualized. Its open interest declined 3.18% to $6.10 billion, while accounts were 76.7% long and 23.3% short.

Solana (SOL) posted a negative funding rate of -0.0004% every eight hours, equivalent to -0.4% annualized. Open interest dropped 1.70% to $980.5 million, with long accounts at 67.9% and short accounts at 32.1%.

The snapshot was recorded Oct. 8 at 2:15 a.m. ET (06:15 UTC). Mark prices were $82,885 for Bitcoin, $2,570 for Ether, $115.34 for Solana, $1.41 for XRP and $0.0875 for Dogecoin.
