> Brent futures reached $104.33 while WTI crude rose to $91.70 on Oct. 8, as possible U.S. military operations involving Iran added market uncertainty.

Brent crude futures rose 4.1% intraday to $104.33 on Oct. 8, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude gained 3.9% to $91.70, renewing concern that higher energy costs could intensify inflation pressure.

The sharp move puts oil prices back in focus for markets that have been watching the path of inflation and interest rates. Energy costs can feed into transportation, production and household expenses, making a sustained increase relevant beyond the oil market.

The rise also comes as investors assess the potential effects of renewed geopolitical tensions involving Iran. The U.S. Central Command was asked to prepare for a possible resumption of major operations against Iran, but no final decision or strike date had been set.

Possible action could occur before the U.S. midterm elections on Nov. 3, and potentially before Israel’s election on Oct. 27.
