> Shares fell for a second session after reaching $243.37 on Oct. 6. Nvidia also disclosed a $150 billion increase to its buyback authorization.

Nvidia shares extended their decline for a second session on Oct. 8 after reaching an intraday 52-week high earlier in the week, putting the stock’s recent record alongside its latest earnings and buyback plans.

The shares reached $243.37 on Oct. 6 and closed at $237.47 on Oct. 7, down 0.74% from the previous session. During Oct. 8 trading, the stock fell roughly 2% at one point.

The decline came after Nvidia announced an additional $150 billion share-repurchase authorization. The Sept. 28 approval raised the company’s remaining buyback authorization to $235 billion, with execution expected through fiscal 2028.

Nvidia reported $96.2 billion in revenue for the fiscal second quarter ended July 26, up 106% from a year earlier and 18% from the prior quarter. Data Center revenue reached $89 billion, a 117% year-over-year increase, and accounted for most of the company’s quarterly revenue.

The results remain closely tied to demand for data-center computing. Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang said, “NVIDIA’s growth is being driven by a once-in-a-generation platform shift to AI and accelerated computing.”

Huang also said, “AI has reached its inflection point. It’s doing useful work. Its tokens are productive and profitable. Now, compute is revenue.”

Nvidia’s Form 10-Q said shipments of Data Center Hopper products to China represented less than 1% of Data Center revenue during the quarter ended July 26.

The company’s buyback authorization provides a substantial capital-return program, but the announcement does not establish the reason for the short-term share-price decline. The shares had previously [set an intraday record earlier in October](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/investing/26394>).
