> The Category 3 storm is also threatening Gulf Coast refineries with combined capacity of 466,000 barrels per day.

Hurricane Isaias has shut in about 1.3 million barrels per day of U.S. crude production in the Gulf of Mexico, threatening fuel supplies as refineries face possible storm disruptions.

The shutdown represented roughly 63% of total U.S. Gulf output as of Thursday. Isaias was moving toward Mississippi, Alabama and the Florida panhandle as a Category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 120 mph, with landfall expected Friday night or early Saturday.

The storm's path could affect Chevron's refinery in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and Vertex Energy's refinery in Saraland, Alabama. The two facilities have combined capacity of 466,000 barrels per day, equal to about 2.4% of U.S. refining capacity.

Chevron's Pascagoula refinery remained operational. Both refinery areas were under hurricane warnings, while the storm appeared to be moving away from the major refining corridor in southern Louisiana.

Gulf Coast refineries were operating at about 95% of capacity, leaving limited room to offset further disruptions. Fuel markets are already dealing with supply pressure linked to conflicts in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, while tanker traffic could also face delays moving crude and refined products.
