> ZEC traded near $1,213 on Oct. 9 after falling toward $1,100, while its next network upgrade reached public testnet and a proposed ETF remained preliminary.

Zcash (ZEC) recovered to about $1,213 on Oct. 9 after a sharp decline, putting the $1,185 support area and a possible move toward $1,300 at the center of near-term market attention.

ZEC traded near $1,213 at 10:19 a.m. ET (14:19 UTC), up about 2.2% on the day after reaching an intraday low of $1,183.24. Separate daily figures showed a close of $1,224.56, a high of $1,246.17, a low of $1,183.60 and a 3.22% gain. The figures differ, possibly because of timing or market-data methodology.

The recovery followed a decline from above $1,600 in late September toward $1,100 during the Oct. 8 session. A move toward $1,300 would require ZEC to hold near $1,185 and reclaim $1,250. ZEC’s 20-day exponential moving average stood at $1,337.05, while its 50-day EMA was $1,184.74. Four-hour momentum indicators were negative, including a MACD line of -36.27, a signal line of -33.19, a histogram of -3.08 and Chaikin Money Flow of -0.03.

NU7 activated on public testnet at block 4,465,026 on Oct. 4. Nov. 5 was listed as a tentative date for the mainnet activation of Zcash’s next proposed network upgrade.

Winklevoss Asset Services filed a Form S-1 with the SEC on Oct. 6 for a proposed Zcash exchange-traded fund. The trust would hold ZEC and seek to track its price, less expenses, with WINK listed as the expected ticker subject to a notice of issuance.

The preliminary filing did not establish that the fund had launched, purchased ZEC or received regulatory approval. Its prospectus also warned that the information could change. No confirmed link between the ETF filing and the Oct. 9 price recovery was established.

The next technical test is whether ZEC can hold the $1,185 area and move above $1,250. The tentative mainnet date for NU7 is Nov. 5.
