> The 24-hour liquidation wave affected more than 180,000 traders, with long positions bearing most of the losses.

Crypto derivatives liquidations topped $1 billion over 24 hours, highlighting the scale of losses from leveraged positions during a broad market selloff.

One 24-hour snapshot put total forced closures at $1.09 billion across 180,837 traders. XRP accounted for $29.52 million, or about 2.7% of the total, making its share relatively small compared with the broader market damage.

XRP long liquidations totaled $27.82 million, while short liquidations reached $1.69 million. Other 24-hour snapshots placed total liquidations between $1.09 billion and $1.19 billion and XRP liquidations between $29.52 million and $34.11 million.

The largest single forced closure was an ETH-USD position worth about $19.98 million on Hyperliquid. Liquidations occur when exchanges automatically close leveraged trades after losses consume the collateral supporting those positions.
