# Crypto Liquidations Reach $110.5 Million as Shorts Take 60%

Crypto markets recorded $110.5 million in forced liquidations across Binance, Bybit and OKX during the 24 hours ending Oct. 9 at 8:03 p.m. ET, with short positions accounting for most of the losses.

A total of 36,301 orders were liquidated. Short liquidations totaled $66.1 million, compared with $44.4 million for long positions. A liquidation occurs when an exchange closes a leveraged trade after losses leave insufficient collateral to keep it open.

Binance recorded the largest exchange total at $70 million. OKX followed with $27.5 million, while Bybit posted $13.1 million.

Bitcoin (BTC) accounted for $31.8 million of the liquidations. Long positions contributed $8.1 million, while short positions accounted for $23.7 million.

Ether (ETH) liquidations reached $22.4 million, including $9.2 million in long positions and $13.2 million in shorts. Solana (SOL) recorded $7.6 million in liquidations, split between $3.8 million in longs and $3.7 million in shorts.

Zcash (ZEC) liquidations totaled $6.1 million. Long positions accounted for $1.9 million, compared with $4.2 million for shorts.

iExec RLC (RLC) posted $4 million in liquidations, including $1.7 million from longs and $2.4 million from shorts. KAIA liquidations reached $2.6 million, with $866,725 in long losses and $1.7 million in short losses.

The largest single liquidation was an $824,569 Bitcoin short position on OKX at 12:01 a.m. ET on Oct. 9.
