Bitcoin (BTC) was trading near $83,000 after retreating from the $86,000-$90,000 resistance zone, while a negative Coinbase Premium Index pointed to weaker relative demand on Coinbase.

The index stood near -0.1% when Bitcoin was around $82,700. It compares Bitcoin’s BTC/USD price on Coinbase with its BTC/USDT price on Binance. A negative reading indicates that Bitcoin is trading at a discount on Coinbase and can indicate weaker relative buying pressure there, but it does not directly measure total U.S. investor flows.

Bitcoin had recovered from June lows near $58,000 to recent highs near $86,000 before pulling back toward $80,000 and rebounding. The immediate resistance zone remains $86,000-$90,000, with broader resistance near $95,000. A sustained move above the nearby resistance zone would improve the technical structure.

Short-term momentum remains subdued. Bitcoin’s four-hour relative strength index was in the mid-40s, below the neutral 50 level, while its 100-day and 200-day moving averages were both near $72,000.

The first key downside level is $80,000, followed by $77,000 and the $75,000-$78,000 demand zone. A daily close below $75,000 would weaken the broader recovery structure.

The negative reading adds to the market’s focus on Coinbase-based demand. The indicator remains a measure of relative pricing between exchanges rather than a complete gauge of U.S. spot-market flows.
