> Bitcoin and Ether posted modest gains, but total crypto market value declined to $2.81 trillion during the overnight and Asia session.

Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) edged higher early Oct. 11, but total crypto market capitalization fell 2.31% to $2.81 trillion as leveraged traders recorded $52.9 million in liquidations across three major exchanges.

Bitcoin traded at $83,049 at 1:04 a.m. ET (05:04 UTC), up 0.45% over 24 hours. Ether reached $2,509, gaining 0.58% over the same period.

Trading volume across the crypto market totaled $45.69 billion. Bitcoin represented 59.1% of the market, while Ether accounted for 10.9%.

Among other major cryptocurrencies, XRP traded at $1.40, down 0.75%. BNB rose 0.18% to $748.49, while Solana (SOL) fell 0.18% to $109.66. Dogecoin (DOGE) declined 0.82% to $0.0857.

Arbitrum (ARB) was the strongest performer among the top 39 cryptocurrencies, rising 5.91%. Quant (QNT) posted the largest decline in that group, falling 3.38%.

Liquidations totaled $52.9 million over the past 24 hours on Binance, Bybit and OKX. Long positions accounted for $24.2 million, while short positions accounted for $28.6 million.

The latest decline extends the market weakness seen in the prior session, even as Bitcoin and Ether posted gains.
