> The incidents involved an unidentified projectile strike in the strait and a drone attack near Oman, raising concerns over maritime security and oil supplies.

Two commercial tankers were attacked in separate incidents near the Strait of Hormuz on Oct. 11, leaving two Indian seafarers missing and increasing risks for a major global oil-shipping route.

The Marshall Islands-flagged MT Valthera caught fire after an unidentified projectile struck the vessel while it was transiting the strait. All 11 Indian crew members aboard were safe.

The MT Petro Dolphin was attacked by a drone at the Sohar Anchorage off Oman. Nine of its 11 Indian seafarers were rescued and safe, while two remained missing during search-and-rescue operations.

The incidents involved different weapons and locations, with one attack occurring in the strait and the other at anchor near Oman. The perpetrators were not identified, and damage assessments and environmental impacts were not confirmed.

India called for immediate de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy, saying attacks on commercial vessels, seafarers and civilian infrastructure must end.
