> Ether traded at $2,571.74 early Oct. 12, while technical setups placed a potential breakout above $2,700–$2,720 against a possible retreat toward $2,400–$2,600.

Ether (ETH) traded at $2,571.74 early Oct. 12, below its 20-day moving average and near resistance at $2,601.21 and $2,630.68, as two technical setups outlined different paths for the token’s next move.

ETH was up 2.63% over 24 hours on Binance spot at 3:17 a.m. ET (07:17 UTC). Its session range was $2,497.85 to $2,579, while the seven-day and 50-day moving averages stood at $2,549.90 and $2,558.95, respectively.

Support levels were identified at $2,520.06 and $2,468.38, with a pivot at $2,549.53. The 14-period relative strength index was 48.33, while the moving average convergence-divergence reading was -3.037 with a zero histogram.

Binance futures showed an eight-hour funding rate of 0.0015% and open interest of about 2.35 million contracts, representing roughly $5.87 billion in notional value, at 3 a.m. ET (07:00 UTC).

One technical setup places the next major test above $2,700–$2,720. A potential bull flag breakout in that range would put the psychological $3,000 level back in focus. The setup also referenced Ether’s four-hour 200-period exponential moving average near $2,586 and a support zone between $2,580 and $2,600.

A separate technical setup allows for a decline toward $2,400–$2,600 before a possible rally toward $3,400. Arrieche identified $2,400 as an important floor after Ether consolidated after reaching resistance near $2,800.

The breakout scenario depends on a potential move above $2,700–$2,720, while the pullback scenario allows a decline toward $2,400–$2,600 before a possible advance. Neither setup confirms that a breakout has occurred.

The current view follows an earlier Ether setup centered on the $2,520 neckline, where confirmation also depended on a sustained move above a defined technical level.
