> ATOM fell 3.3% to $1.88 while seller-tilted futures activity and a flat MACD histogram kept momentum mixed.

Cosmos’ native token, ATOM, fell 3.3% to $1.88 on Binance spot as of 4:53 a.m. ET (08:53 UTC) Oct. 12, while seller-tilted futures activity kept the token’s test of $2 resistance in focus.

ATOM traded between $1.85 and $2.06 during the session. The token remained above its seven-day simple moving average of $1.87, 20-day average of $1.80, 50-day average of $1.68 and 200-day average of $1.71.

Its 12-day exponential moving average stood at $1.84, while the 26-day EMA was $1.78. The upper Bollinger Band was $2.00, with the middle band at $1.80.

Momentum was mixed, with the MACD histogram at zero while taker activity favored sellers. The MACD and signal lines were both 0.0618. The daily relative strength index was 55.62, while stochastic %K and %D were 55.77 and 44.61, respectively.

The daily ATR was $0.13, or roughly 7% of ATOM’s price. ATR measures typical price movement over a set period and provides context for the token’s recent trading range.

Binance futures open interest was approximately $26.7 million, or 12,746,332 contracts, at 3 a.m. ET (07:00 UTC), up 5.03% over 24 hours. The eight-hour funding rate was negative 0.0008%.

The one-hour taker buy/sell ratio was 0.7639, with 572,652 contracts in sell volume versus 437,423 contracts in buy volume. Account positioning was 60% long and 40% short, while top-trader positioning was 63.5% long and 36.4% short.

The immediate technical levels are $1.80 on the downside and $2.00 on the upside. A close below $1.80 would bring support near $1.72 into focus.

“A daily close above $1.90, followed by a sustained move beyond $2.00, would strengthen the bullish setup and potentially open the way toward the next resistance levels near $2.10-$2.20,” Shubham Vishwakarma wrote Oct. 9.

The latest readings update [earlier coverage of ATOM’s test of $2 resistance](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/investing/29754>), when the token traded at $1.94 and futures open interest stood near $31.15 million.
