> Binance’s ETH-denominated open interest recovered to about 2.46 million ETH despite a nearly 10% decline in Ether’s price.

Binance’s share of Ether futures open interest across major centralized exchanges climbed to nearly 49%, the highest level since 2023, even as Ether prices declined and leveraged positions were liquidated.

Ether fell from about $2,775 to near $2,500, a drop of almost 10%. Over the same period, the dollar value of Binance’s ETH futures open interest decreased by about $600 million.

Measured in Ether, however, open interest on Binance recovered to roughly 2.46 million ETH, returning to its level at the end of September. The figure shows that the amount of ETH committed to the exchange’s futures market did not fall substantially during the pullback.

The broader market recorded about $345 million in liquidated ETH long positions over 24 hours between Oct. 8 and Oct. 9. Despite those liquidations, Binance’s share of ETH derivatives open interest increased as traders maintained their exposure in ETH terms.
