> The 2,452,017 tokens were valued at an estimated $9.50 million when the market estimate was published, but the figure does not represent confirmed buyback spending.

Lighter (LIT) burned 2,452,017 tokens acquired through programmatic buybacks through Sept. 30, reducing the available supply without confirming whether demand can absorb future selling pressure.

The exchange announced that it had permanently destroyed the tokens accumulated through the end of the third quarter. The confirmed figure is the token amount; Lighter did not disclose the dollar value of the burn or the percentage of circulating supply removed.

The 2,452,017 tokens were valued at an estimated $9.50 million when the market estimate was published. That estimate does not establish how much Lighter spent on the buybacks.

The burn combines two steps: purchasing LIT in the market and permanently removing the purchased tokens. That reduces supply, but its effect on the market depends on whether demand remains stable or increases. The available figures do not show that the burn offset selling pressure or created sustained demand for LIT.

Market data also showed $4.241 trillion in cumulative trading volume for real-world-asset perpetual futures, with Lighter accounting for $1.523 billion. Those figures measure trading activity across the market and on Lighter; they do not show how much demand translated into LIT purchases, staking or fee-related use.

The token reached $5.48 in late September before correcting. A market reading for the LIT/USDT pair showed a cumulative-volume delta of about -1.98K LIT during the cited session, indicating more aggressive selling than buying at that time. The figure does not establish whether the selling was connected to the burn or to broader real-world-asset trading.

An [earlier report on the 2,452,017-LIT burn](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/technology/29994>) detailed the completion of the buyback-related destruction. The remaining market question is whether the permanent supply reduction will be matched by durable demand for LIT.
