> Bitcoin fell below $82,000 as $1.16 billion in leveraged positions were liquidated, while Nasdaq technology stocks declined 1.25% in the latest session.

Bitcoin (BTC) fell below $82,000 as a broad risk-asset selloff hit cryptocurrencies and U.S. equities, with smaller tokens suffering the sharpest declines.

About $1.16 billion in crypto positions were liquidated over 24 hours, with long positions accounting for 90% of the total. Roughly 190,000 accounts were affected, while futures open interest fell 5.9% to $143.2 billion.

Altcoin losses were substantially larger than Bitcoin’s. BOME fell 30%, BLUR dropped 29%, STRK declined 28%, and CKB lost 22% over 24 hours. Ethena (ENA) fell 15% and NEAR dropped 13%. Ether (ETH) was down 9.3% over the week, while Solana (SOL) and Dogecoin (DOGE) each fell about 7%.

The move coincided with weakness in U.S. stocks. The Nasdaq Composite fell 0.44% in the Oct. 12 session, the S&P 500 slipped 0.06%, and the Russell 2000 declined 0.45%. Technology stocks were the weakest major sector, falling 1.25%.

Higher borrowing costs are adding pressure across risk assets. The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield reached 5.35% in early October, while the 30-year yield reached 5.70%. Investors are now focused on the September consumer-price report due Oct. 14.
