Japan’s producer price inflation slowed to 6.8% year over year in September 2026, coming in below the 7.6% market consensus and marking the weakest annual growth since May.

The producer price index also contracted from August. The figures point to slower growth in prices received by Japanese producers after stronger increases earlier in the year.

The September reading adds to the latest stream of inflation data being monitored for its potential impact on global markets, including cryptocurrencies.
