> XRP remained above its 200-day average but traded below shorter-term trend measures as derivatives open interest rose during the decline.

XRP traded near $1.38 early Oct. 13 as short-term momentum weakened and derivatives exposure increased.

The token was at $1.38 at 3:31 a.m. ET (07:31 UTC), down 2.86% over 24 hours. Reported lows ranged from $1.31 to $1.32, with a high of $1.42. A separate reading placed XRP at approximately $1.37 at 1:55 a.m. ET (05:55 UTC), down 2.85%.

XRP traded below its seven-day simple moving average at $1.39, its 50-day average at $1.43 and its 20-day average at $1.47. The token remained above its 200-day average at $1.28. Its 12-day exponential moving average was $1.42, compared with $1.43 for the 26-day EMA.

Momentum indicators also weakened. The relative strength index stood at 42.93, while the moving average convergence-divergence indicator and signal line were both at -0.0119. Stochastic %K was 26.25 and %D was 21.00. The lower Bollinger Band was $1.34, and the %B reading was 0.1267.

Binance Futures open interest reached about 299.25 million contracts, or $413.68 million in notional value, at 3 a.m. ET (07:00 UTC), up 2.48% over 24 hours. The eight-hour funding rate was -0.0065%.

The global long-short account ratio was 2.6969, with 73.0% of accounts long and 27.1% short. Among top traders, the ratio was 3.1356, with 75.8% long and 24.2% short. Those figures do not show whether the additional derivatives exposure was mainly bullish or bearish.

Resistance levels stood at $1.43 and $1.48, with a pivot at $1.37 and support at $1.32 and $1.26. A move toward $1.48 was conditional on XRP holding $1.32 while momentum improved.

The longer-term chart thesis came from analyst Gert van Lagen, who posted a monthly XRP chart on Oct. 6 showing a symmetrical triangle and a conditional target near $50. The chart supplied no target date or breakout probability. Van Lagen wrote, “This would be normal bull market dynamics for Ripple.”

He also cited XRP’s 2017 performance against Bitcoin (BTC), writing that XRP/BTC rose 50-fold in two months and that a comparable move would imply Bitcoin at $450,000 and XRP at $50. The comparison is a conditional chart scenario, not a fixed outcome.
