> Yields on two CoreWeave bonds rose to about 14.8% and 14.9% as investors sought more compensation for risk tied to AI-related debt.

CoreWeave shares fell 16% on Oct. 14 as concern grew over technology companies’ borrowing for artificial intelligence infrastructure, while yields on two of the company’s bonds neared 15%. Investors are demanding more compensation for risk as sentiment shifts around AI-related debt.

The yield to maturity on CoreWeave’s 9.625% bond due in 2032 reached 14.8%. Its 9.75% bond due in 2031 yielded about 14.9%. Bond yields move in the opposite direction from prices.

Other technology stocks also fell. Oracle shares dropped nearly 7%, and the yield on its 6.25% bond due in November 2032 reached 7.24%. Nebius fell 9%, Dell declined 10% and the Nasdaq Composite lost 1.4%.

Companies building AI infrastructure have turned to credit markets to fund projects, increasing the supply of debt. Hyperscalers are on track to spend $800 billion this year, with annual spending expected to exceed $1 trillion by 2027.

On Oct. 13, tech investor Chamath Palihapitiya wrote on X that CoreWeave’s 2032 bond yield had touched 15% and closed at a record high. Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk replied, “yikes.”
