> September CPI rose 3.7% year over year, while core CPI increased 2.6%.

Bitcoin fell below $82,000 after hotter September U.S. inflation revived expectations for further rate hikes, adding pressure to crypto markets as price increases spread beyond gasoline.

Consumer prices rose 3.7% from a year earlier, while core CPI increased 2.6%. Gasoline prices jumped 9.1% during the month and accounted for more than half of the overall increase. Housing, medical care and airline services also became more expensive.

Huobi HTX chief analyst Andy said the broader price gains make it harder to treat September’s rebound as an energy-only shock. Treasury yields and the U.S. dollar rose after the release, while markets lifted expectations for additional rate increases.

Andy said the economy has not clearly entered a recession, leaving the Federal Reserve without an urgent reason to ease policy. He described the near-term effect on crypto as negative, pointing to real interest rates, the dollar and global liquidity as key market drivers. Hotter inflation does not automatically benefit Bitcoin.

Andy said falling energy costs and stable core inflation would point to a temporary supply shock, while continued strength in core services could keep rates elevated longer. He said Bitcoin’s direction will also depend on inflation, employment and long-term Treasury yields confirming the policy outlook.
