> The Nikkei fell 4.90% to 64,425.95 points, while the KOSPI dropped 7.56% to 5,554.27.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s KOSPI both closed sharply lower on Oct. 15, with South Korea’s index posting the larger percentage decline in a steep fall across the two equity markets.

Japan’s benchmark finished at 64,425.95 points, down 4.90%. The KOSPI ended at 5,554.27, a 7.56% decline. The difference between the two daily moves was 2.66 percentage points, with the KOSPI recording the larger loss. The percentages compare each index’s change against its own previous level, while the point totals show where each index finished.

That distinction makes percentage change the clearest way to compare the session. The Nikkei’s and KOSPI’s closing values use separate index scales, so the gap between 64,425.95 and 5,554.27 does not measure which market fell further. On a percentage basis, South Korea’s decline was greater than Japan’s, even though both markets finished lower.

The simultaneous losses put both equity markets on the same downward track for the session, with a steeper proportional drop in Seoul. The declines underscore a risk-off move across the two markets, a signal crypto traders may watch as they gauge wider market sentiment.
