> He said Kyiv paused attacks for three days at Washington’s request, while Russia struck Ukrainian energy infrastructure with about 40 ballistic missiles.

Ukraine will resume strikes on Russian refineries after Moscow failed to honor a proposed pause, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, bringing energy-market uncertainty back into focus for investors.

Zelenskyy said Kyiv halted attacks and retaliation for three days at Washington’s request. Russia then launched an assault on Ukrainian energy infrastructure that included about 40 ballistic missiles, he said. Zelenskyy said he had warned U.S. officials that Moscow would violate the pause.

President Donald Trump announced the proposed “energy ceasefire” Sunday to stop both countries from attacking power facilities and reduce oil and diesel prices ahead of next month’s U.S. midterm elections.

Zelenskyy also said he felt let down by Trump over Russian strikes and apparent Starlink restrictions. Ukrainian officials said service limits disrupted military operations and left forces without advance warnings of incoming ballistic missiles. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said the U.S. government owns and controls Starshield, Starlink’s sister service.

The renewed threat puts energy costs and geopolitical risk back in focus for broader markets, including crypto.
