International Paper rose 7.40% to lead a ranking of S&P 500 midday gainers published Oct. 15, giving the packaging company the largest listed gain among companies in the index. The S&P 500 was up 0.1%, while technology stocks extended a sell-off amid concerns about AI valuations and financing costs.

The ranking was published at 12:02:47 p.m. ET (16:02:47 UTC). Equifax gained 6.45%, CoStar Group rose 6.41%, Expedia Group advanced 6.26% and Intuit climbed 6.21%. International Paper later disclosed that it had received unsolicited approaches for its EMEA packaging operation and was in talks with prospective buyers. The review was at an early stage, and the company gave no assurance that a sale would be agreed or completed. It was continuing to pursue a planned spinoff in parallel. The business is expected to list in London, with a Level II American depositary receipt program on the New York Stock Exchange.

At 9 a.m. ET (13:00 UTC) Oct. 15, Intuit disclosed a signed acquisition deal for Sequence, whose business centers on revenue management. The companies did not disclose financial terms.
