> Companies with digital assets exceeding 50% of total assets will be assessed under a new methodology as MSCI ends interim measures.

MSCI will exclude non-operating companies from its global investable market indexes starting Nov. 30, a change that also subjects companies with large digital asset holdings to a new eligibility framework.

The change will take effect as part of MSCI’s November index review. Investment funds, business development companies and other passive investment vehicles will also be excluded under the policy.

For companies with digital assets accounting for more than 50% of total assets, MSCI will end its interim measures and apply its new methodology. Those measures included limits on share issuance, freezes on increases to inclusion factors and delayed index additions.

MSCI identified potential deletions including Strategy A, Metaplanet, Yellow Cake, Skel Fjarfestingafelag and Upexi. A separate watchlist includes Sharplink, Capital B, Solana Company A, DeFi Dev Corp, Ton Strategy and Sui Group Holdings.

MSCI will publish the final list of affected companies Nov. 11, ahead of implementation on Nov. 30.
