> The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.54%, while AI-linked hardware stocks had also posted losses in the prior session.

The Nasdaq Composite fell 2.2% as losses hit all three major U.S. stock indexes, with the S&P 500 down 1.11% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average off 0.54%.

The Nasdaq's decline more than doubled its 1.09% loss in the previous session. The Dow reversed its 0.44% gain from that session, though its latest drop was less than one-quarter of the Nasdaq's. The S&P 500's decline was between the other two indexes, down more than 1% but below the Nasdaq's 2.2%.

AI-linked hardware stocks had also fallen in the previous session. COHR declined 5.89%, LITE fell 4.06% and AAOI lost 5.83%. Five other listed stocks — SKHY, STX, WDC, SNDK and MU — fell between 4% and 5.84%.

The latest figures put the Nasdaq's loss 1.09 percentage points above the S&P 500's and 1.66 percentage points above the Dow's. The S&P 500 also fell 0.57 percentage points more than the Dow. Together, the three readings show declines across the benchmarks, with the sharpest loss in the Nasdaq.
