> The regional total fell 1.9% from the prior period; more than 138 million x402 transactions were counted on Base.

North America received an estimated $3.02 trillion in on-chain crypto value over the 12 months ended July 1, 2026, while U.S.-linked wallets accounted for 88.1% of geolocated x402 model-inference transactions.

The regional total was 1.9% below the $3.08 trillion recorded in the preceding 12-month period. The United States received $2.78 trillion, down 2.2%, while Canada received $247.7 billion, up 2.3%. The figures measure on-chain value received during the period, not residents’ crypto holdings or the region’s market capitalization.

More than 138 million x402 transactions were counted on Base. Coinbase introduced x402 on May 6, 2025, as a way for APIs, apps and AI agents to request stablecoin payments over HTTP. Because different kinds of software can use the protocol, its transaction count does not establish that every payment came from an autonomous AI agent.

Among x402 agent-to-service transactions that could be assigned a location, U.S.-linked wallets accounted for 30% overall. Their share was 88.1% for model-inference transactions, 41.8% for transactions involving agent frameworks and tool catalogs, and 23.2% for payments to data and search APIs.

A separate 16-month analysis through September 2026 found that more than 87% of x402 payments were between $0.0001 and $0.10. The most common range was $0.01 to $0.10. The median interval from a wallet’s first funding to its first x402 payment fell from 73 days in late 2025 to 18 minutes in Q3 2026. The share of wallets making a first payment within an hour of funding rose from 4% in Q3 2025 to 67% in Q3 2026.

For wallets first funded in Q2 2026, 89.3% received a second funding within 30 days, compared with 70.6% of wallets first funded in Q3 2025. The comparison counted wallets that sent on at least two separate days and excluded one-day users.

Remittance-sized stablecoin and Bitcoin (BTC) transfers from Canada to India, China and the Philippines totaled $2.36 billion, up 141% year over year, across 3.56 million transactions. Transfers averaged $663, with an average of 75,100 unique senders per month.
