Editor's note Ethereum transitioned to proof-of-stake in September 2022, allowing participants to become validators by depositing 32 ETH and earn rewards. Withdrawals were enabled by the Shapella upgrade in April 2023. Liquid staking services such as Lido and Rocket Pool have broadened participation while allowing staked assets to remain usable in decentralized finance. Deposits, withdrawals, validator numbers and reward rates are key measures of Ethereum's staking activity.
