> The memecoin category was valued at about $29.08 billion on Oct. 19, up 0.6% over 24 hours.

Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB) fell over the past week while Pepe (PEPE) rose, leaving major memecoins split even as the category gained over the latest 24 hours.

DOGE was down 4.9% over seven days and SHIB was down 4.3%. PEPE gained 3.8% over the same rolling period. The figures were observed at about 7:55 p.m. ET on Oct. 19 (23:55 UTC).

The memecoin category had a market capitalization of about $29.08 billion at that time, up 0.6% over 24 hours. The daily category gain and the tokens’ weekly changes cover different periods, so they describe distinct moves.

A broader measure covering the top 125 cryptocurrencies excluding Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) stood at $775.32 billion. It includes assets outside the memecoin category and cannot be used as a measure of memecoin losses.

Market capitalization reflects token prices and circulating supply. A change in that value alone does not show how much cash entered or left memecoins, or establish that investors moved funds to other cryptocurrencies.
