‘Satoshi Index’ is a daily series in which [Satoshi Note™, a crypto portfolio tracker](<https://satoshinote.io/?utm_source=tokenpost_com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=coin_positions_daily_en_20261020_09>), analyzes the current positions of top traders using on-chain data. Data refreshes hourly; figures reflect the aggregation time stated in the article. [Editor's note]

As of 12:48 p.m. KST on Oct. 20 (03:48 UTC), about 88% of the position value held by the top traders ranked on 24-hour performance was short. Longs totaled about $322 million against about $2.43 billion in shorts. Starting today, the figures combine the top 100 accounts by 24-hour performance on four exchanges, Hyperliquid, Lighter, dYdX and Pacifica, a Solana-based perpetual futures exchange added to the index this morning.

The group ranked on 7-day performance holds about $344 million long and about $2.98 billion short, a short share of about 90%. The 30-day group holds about $481 million long and about $3.14 billion short, or 87% short. In all three groups, short value exceeds long value by more than six to one. On Hyperliquid, prices over the 24 hours to the aggregation time fell 0.7% for Bitcoin (BTC), 0.7% for Ethereum (ETH) and 4.7% for NEAR Protocol (NEAR), while Solana (SOL) slipped 0.3%.

All three groups show unrealized losses: about $24 million for the 24-hour group, $58 million for the 7-day group and $21 million for the 30-day group. In the 7-day group, Hyperliquid (HYPE) shorts carry about $45 million in losses and BTC shorts about $35 million. In the 30-day group, HYPE shorts again show the largest loss at about $50 million.

Among the top 20 assets by value, none leans long on the 7-day or 30-day ranking. On the 24-hour ranking, only Worldcoin (WLD) and Monero (XMR) lean long.

Bitcoin (BTC) shows 87 traders long and 126 short on the 24-hour ranking, with about $63 million long against $794 million short, a short share of 93%. On the 7-day ranking, 97 are long and 128 short, with about $101 million long and $815 million short, or 89% short. On the 30-day ranking, headcount is nearly even at 110 long and 113 short, but value is not: about $124 million long against $882 million short, or 88% short. The 24-hour group's BTC shorts carry about $32 million in unrealized losses, the largest of any asset.

Ethereum (ETH) is even more one-sided. On the 24-hour ranking, 63 traders are long and 128 short, with about $21 million long against $739 million short, a short share of 97%. On the 7-day ranking, 57 are long and 132 short, with short value of about $820 million, or 95% short. On the 30-day ranking, 58 are long and 132 short, with about $142 million long and $894 million short, or 86% short.

By asset, [Zcash (ZEC)](<https://satoshinote.io/traders/coins/zec?window=day&utm_source=tokenpost_com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=coin_positions_daily_en_20261020_09>) shows the largest unrealized gain in all three groups. In the 24-hour group, 28 traders are long and 75 short, with about $4.5 million long against $163 million short, a short share of 97%, and those shorts are up about $23 million. The 7-day group is 98% short at 22 long to 82 short, and the 30-day group 94% short at 26 to 74, with gains of about $14 million and $16 million. ZEC fell about 1.1% on Hyperliquid over the 24 hours to the aggregation time.

Worldcoin (WLD) runs the other way in the 24-hour group: 46 traders long and 31 short, with about $21 million long against $14 million short, a long share of 61%, the highest among the top 20 assets by value. WLD rose about 10% on Hyperliquid over the same period, the biggest gain among the top assets. In the 7-day group, however, WLD is 63% short at 25 long to 54 short. Monero (XMR) also leans long in the 24-hour group at 35 long to 15 short, about $12 million against $4.6 million, a long share of 72%, with the price up about 2.4%. In the 30-day group, NEAR Protocol (NEAR) is the most evenly split of the top assets at 40 long to 40 short, about $43 million long against $64 million short.

Three groups pointing the same way is hard to read as a market call. Short-window rankings surface the traders who called that window's price direction, and the 30-day ranking keeps those who did well over the past month, so in a stretch when major assets fell, accounts that profited from shorts can crowd all three rankings at once. With the count widening from three exchanges to four today, the figures are also not directly comparable with the previous edition.

A few large positions can swing the value shares. Positions on other exchanges and spot holdings outside these four venues are not counted, so hedging cannot be ruled out. Current positions alone do not reveal any trader's full strategy or the market's next move.
