Ether (ETH) rose 1.26% in one hour to $2,419 at 10:02 a.m. ET (14:02 UTC) on Oct. 20, as short liquidations exceeded long liquidations across three exchanges.

Ether had traded at $2,389 an hour earlier on Binance's spot ETH/USDT market. TokenPost collected the public exchange prices directly and calculated the one-hour change from those observations. At the later reading, Ether was also up 1.12% from 24 hours earlier.

During the same hour, $8.24 million in ETH short positions were liquidated on Binance, Bybit and OKX, compared with $240,000 in long positions, in TokenPost's exchange tally. Short liquidations accounted for most of those recorded across the three exchanges. The $2,419 spot price came from Binance alone; the liquidation figures cover all three exchanges.

Ether ranked second among cryptocurrencies by market value, with an estimated capitalization of $293,198,310,000. The liquidation totals cover the same one-hour period as the price change.
