> Top traders on the 7-day ranking across Hyperliquid, Lighter, dYdX and Pacifica now hold 76% of position value long, from 87% short yesterday evening, while the 24-hour group moves from 81% long to 82% short and Zcash…

‘Satoshi Index’ is a daily series in which [Satoshi Note™, a crypto portfolio tracker](<https://satoshinote.io/?utm_source=tokenpost_com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=coin_positions_daily_en_20261022_09>), analyzes the current positions of top traders using on-chain data. Data refreshes hourly; figures reflect the aggregation time stated in the article. [Editor's note]

As of 12:48 p.m. KST on Oct. 22 (03:48 UTC), about 76% of the position value held by the top traders ranked on 7-day performance was long. Longs totaled about $1.54 billion against about $486 million in shorts. The figures combine the top 100 accounts by 7-day performance on four exchanges, Hyperliquid, Lighter, dYdX and Pacifica, added up by asset.

That reverses the 87% short recorded at 3:28 p.m. KST in yesterday's 18:00 edition. Over the roughly 21 hours between the two counts, the 7-day group's long value rose by about $1.05 billion and its short value fell by about $2.77 billion. Each exchange on its own leans the same way: the 7-day group's long share is 77% on Hyperliquid, 73% on Lighter, 66% on dYdX and 62% on Pacifica, so the combined reversal is not the effect of a single venue. On Hyperliquid, prices over the 24 hours to the aggregation time were flat for Bitcoin (BTC), down 0.1% for Ethereum (ETH), down 0.4% for Solana (SOL) and down 2.5% for Hyperliquid (HYPE), while Zcash (ZEC) gained 2.2%, Monero (XMR) 6.0% and Lighter (LIT) 8.9%.

The group ranked on 24-hour performance moved the other way. It holds about $567 million long and about $2.62 billion short, a short share of about 82%, where yesterday's 18:00 edition had it 81% long. The 30-day group holds about $362 million long against $3.53 billion short, or 91% short, more one-sided than yesterday's 87%.

Unrealized results changed sides as well. The 24-hour group is down about $34 million, against a gain of $27 million yesterday. The 7-day group is up about $50 million, against a loss of $95 million. The 30-day group is down about $83 million, less than yesterday's $105 million. In the 30-day group, HYPE shorts carry about $53 million in losses, BTC shorts about $45 million and ETH shorts about $26 million. In the 7-day group, NEAR Protocol (NEAR) longs show a gain of about $26 million and ZEC longs about $14 million, the two largest.

Bitcoin (BTC) shows 97 traders long and 94 short on the 24-hour ranking, with about $173 million long against $730 million short, or 81% short; yesterday it was 146 long and 48 short at 78% long. On the 7-day ranking, 132 are long and 61 short, with about $427 million long and $87 million short, a long share of 83%, where yesterday's count was 90 long and 137 short at 86% short, so 42 accounts joined the long side and 76 left the short side. On the 30-day ranking, 90 are long and 138 short, with about $96 million long against $966 million short, or 91% short, from 87% yesterday.

Ethereum (ETH) on the 7-day ranking moved from 94% short yesterday, at 49 long and 145 short, to 105 long and 58 short, with about $470 million long against $95 million short, a long share of 83%. On the 24-hour ranking, 56 are long and 109 short, with about $84 million long and $782 million short, or 90% short, where yesterday it was 80% long. On the 30-day ranking, 45 are long and 153 short, with about $74 million long and $1.02 billion short, or 93% short. ETH longs in the 7-day group carry an unrealized loss of about $10 million, and ETH shorts in the 30-day group about $26 million.

The largest change from yesterday in the 7-day group is in [Zcash (ZEC)](<https://satoshinote.io/traders/coins/zec?window=day&utm_source=tokenpost_com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=coin_positions_daily_en_20261022_09>). The 7-day group's ZEC count moved from 33 long and 68 short, a long headcount share of 33%, to 86 long and 24 short, or 78%, as 53 accounts joined the long side and 44 left the short side. By value the group is 90% long at about $156 million against $18 million, compared with 81% short yesterday. The 24-hour group's ZEC, by contrast, is 52 long and 53 short, with about $62 million long against $157 million short, or 72% short, the reverse of yesterday's 96% long. ZEC rose about 2.2% on Hyperliquid over the 24 hours to the aggregation time, to $1,288.

NEAR Protocol (NEAR) is 73% long in the 7-day group at 39 long to 25 short, about $62 million against $23 million, with an unrealized gain of about $26 million, the largest in that group; yesterday it was 65% short. Among the 24-hour group's top 20 assets by value, only two lean long: Lighter (LIT) at 54 long and 43 short (64% long, price up 8.9%) and Monero (XMR) at 27 long and 18 short (78% long, up 6.0%). Among the 7-day group's top 20, four lean short: HYPE (71 long and 33 short by headcount, but about $51 million long against $106 million short, or 68% short), XRP, Cardano (ADA) and Starknet (STRK). In the 30-day group, Aave (AAVE) remains the only long-leaning asset, as yesterday.

The 7-day group's move from 87% short to 76% long should be read as a change in which accounts make up the ranking. The top 100 is drawn again at each aggregation from the past seven days' performance, so as the window shifts by a day, accounts that did well with longs can enter and accounts that did well with shorts can drop out. Whether the accounts that held shorts yesterday now hold longs cannot be told without trade records, which this count does not include. The 24-hour group's 82% short reflects the same mechanism in reverse: on a day when the major assets barely moved and HYPE and a few others fell, accounts that did well with shorts filled that ranking. All three groups changing sides within a day is an effect of the window choice and says nothing about which side is right.

A few large positions can swing the value shares. Positions on other exchanges and spot holdings outside these four venues are not counted, so hedging cannot be ruled out. Current positions alone do not reveal any trader's full strategy or the market's next move.
