> Plans include exercises over Iraq and possible targets such as nuclear facilities, energy infrastructure, and missile and drone arsenals. No post-election operation has been publicly authorized.

The U.S. and Israeli militaries have drafted plans for renewed strikes on Iran after Nov. 3 as President Donald Trump rules out a U.S. attack before the midterms and nuclear talks remain part of the standoff.

The plans include flights over Iraq to rehearse strike maneuvers. Possible targets span nuclear facilities, energy infrastructure, and missile and drone arsenals. The target list remains unsettled, and no post-election operation has been publicly authorized.

Trump wrote Oct. 8, “we will not be attacking Iran at any time prior to the Midterm Elections.” The White House repeated the pledge Wednesday. It covers the period before the U.S. vote; the plans concern a possible campaign afterward.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday, “There is only one way to remove this threat once and for all: overthrow the regime in Iran.” Israel’s election is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 27, one week before the U.S. midterms. Netanyahu’s statement did not announce an operation.

Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, warned that Iran could continue missile and drone operations if fighting resumes. He also named cables, data centers, and artificial intelligence facilities as possible targets. “If the conflict begins again, we will have a broader plan,” Rezaei said.

A new round would follow U.S.-Israeli strikes from February to April. Those attacks drove up energy prices and strained Pentagon interceptor supplies. The standoff also encompasses nuclear talks and control of the Strait of Hormuz.
