> Ripple USD accounted for 90.75% of the total, while recent banking initiatives expanded payment and custody access for the stablecoin.

The XRP Ledger’s stablecoin market capitalization stood at $999.8 million in a reading dated Thursday, Oct. 22, down 13.2% over seven days, with Ripple USD accounting for most of the total.

Ripple USD (RLUSD), Ripple’s dollar-backed stablecoin, represented 90.75% of the total at about $907.3 million, down 14.4% over seven days. Other listed assets were Valtorum USD at $72.77 million, EUR CoinVertible at $11.21 million and USD Coin (USDC) at $5.76 million. RLUSD’s large share means changes in its market capitalization have a substantial effect on the ledger-wide figure.

Recent banking initiatives have added payment and custody access for RLUSD, but do not establish a reason for the weekly decline. Standard Chartered’s institutional custody service for RLUSD issued on the XRP Ledger went live Oct. 12 through its Dubai International Financial Centre branch. A separate planned arrangement with Ripple and LMAX Group to accept RLUSD as collateral remains subject to documentation, testing, regulatory requirements, internal approvals and jurisdictional readiness.

Cross River’s Oct. 15 integration plan is adding RLUSD to its core operating system with XRP Ledger transaction support. It gives fintechs access through one API, and the service is available only in limited states.

“Businesses shouldn’t have to rely on several different providers to move money across the globe,” said Adam Goller, Cross River’s head of fintech banking.

The reported figures show the scale of the decline but do not identify its cause.
