> U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs took in $653 million on Oct. 19, the most since Sept. 22, while 30-day average trading volume remained below one-quarter of its year-earlier level.

Bitcoin (BTC) recovered above the roughly $80,000 cost-basis area after an hourly close at $80,100 on Oct. 15; ETF inflows returned on Oct. 19 while trading activity remained subdued ahead of Fed and MSCI decisions.

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF holdings and corporate treasury holdings have estimated average cost bases concentrated between $80,000 and $81,500. Treasury companies' average is about $80,200, and Bitcoin's daily closes have stayed above that level since Sept. 18. On Oct. 15, an hourly close reached $80,100; the next hourly close recovered above the approximate $80,000 cost-basis area. A daily close below $80,000 would leave ETF and treasury holders, on average, below their acquisition costs. The average cost for active investors is about $77,600.

A large buy order cluster near $80,000 on Binance's spot order book was mostly consumed during the Oct. 15 decline, then replenished by Tuesday, Oct. 20. The cluster remained smaller than its peak size. It reflects orders on Binance, rather than a marketwide measure of demand. Corporate buying has also slowed: monthly Bitcoin additions since June have been less than one-tenth of the November 2024 peak.

Above the market, the largest liquidation clusters were near $85,000 and $87,000. Binance spot sell orders were concentrated from $86,500 to $87,500. That area also approaches the roughly $86,700 average cost for buyers who acquired Bitcoin six to 12 months ago. The average cost for buyers from one to two years ago is close to $100,000. Selling by that older group peaked in early October after reaching a high in September, and daily sales have since fallen below one-third of that peak.

ETF flows offered a positive signal, but trading activity remained weak. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded about $653 million in inflows Monday, Oct. 19, their largest single-day total since Sept. 22 and a reversal after a week of net outflows. Yet ETF trading that day was below the typical daily level of the past year. The 30-day average volume remained below one-quarter of its level a year earlier, leaving the inflow without a comparable rise in activity.

Other market measures also showed a mix of easing pressure and persistent positioning. Growth in on-chain realized profits over the preceding week was about half the pace seen during the week of September's peak, while realized losses remained steady. The largest realized loss came in the 24 hours ending the morning of Oct. 15, as Bitcoin fell toward $80,000. Across altcoins, the share of assets with funding rates above neutral fell from nearly one-quarter at the end of September to less than 5%. Open interest, adjusted for price changes, was only about 5% below its October peak.

The Federal Reserve's rate decision is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 28. WTI crude has risen about 73% this year, household inflation expectations have increased 0.5 percentage point, and the two-year Treasury yield has climbed more than 1 percentage point to 4.8%. Core inflation is near its level at the start of the year, while September's year-over-year headline and core consumer price index readings both exceeded forecasts.

MSCI approved a new rule for non-operating companies after the U.S. market closed Oct. 15. A test using May data flagged Strategy and Metaplanet. An existing constituent would be removed only if it failed the test in each of its two most recent annual filing periods. The [new index exclusion rules](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/investing/33093>) could require funds tracking MSCI indexes to sell Strategy shares if the company appears on the removal list. MSCI is due to publish that list Nov. 11, and changes will take effect at the market close Nov. 30.
